Be kind, for there can never be such a thing as too much kindness in the world. Besides, in the world we live in today, where we have to wear a mask and social distance in most countries. It is almost as though we are being asked to be afraid to interact with other people who are not within our “safe circle,” so to speak. Not to say this is the case, but it certainly does evoke this feeling for some people. However, despite this, we have to find safe ways to remain the social human beings that we are. We have to care for one another and be kind, for it is the humane thing to do. Here are ten great ways to show kindness to those around us or perfect strangers who cross our path.
1. Send Kind Messages.
Send out a kind email, WhatsApp or Telegram message or card to your friends, family and colleagues. Whether thoughtfully composed or a unique forwarded message that you pass on, it will be appreciated, as it goes to show that you thought of the recipient and wish them well.
2. Give Genuine Compliments.
Be kind and give someone a genuine compliment. Whether it is to someone you know or not, a genuine compliment is bound to be memorable and totally brighten that person’s day. Also, you would generally be sending out positive energy into the world, and you never know. The person you complimented may pay it forward and show kindness to someone else in some form or the other.
3. Make Someone Else Happy.
Be kind and give up your seat for someone else. Might be a pregnant woman, an elderly person, or even someone younger than you that needs it more. It is a great act of kindness and bound to make that person happy. Making someone else happy will in turn bring you happiness, for whatever energy you give out, is what comes back to you.
4. Be Polite.
Say please and thank you every day. Being polite is a good way to show kindness and respect for other human beings irrespective of one’s station in life. it is a way to spread positive energy to those who cross your path.
Smiling will not cost you anything at all and even if you are wearing a mask, a genuine smile shows in the eyes.

7. Be kind and help someone out in a practical way.
Lend a helping hand. There is always someone in need of a helping hand. All you need do is look around you, and see how best you can help someone. Could be as simple as holding the door for someone who has got their hands full. Pay for coffee for someone in line behind you, if you can afford it. Or buy lunch for someone who is not in the same position as you are in. There are countless ways you could be of help to others, and it does not have to cost you a thing, except perhaps your time or special skill set.
8. Be kind and think before you speak.
Choose your words wisely so as not to hurt people’s feeling. Even if you had to reprimand or correct an employee for instance. your intention should not be to hurt or make them feel inferior. But rather, the intention should be simply to point out a wrong that was done. Proffer solutions to correct the wrong and put measures in place to ensure, it would not happen again. The point is, even if someone offended us or is in the wrong, we can still communicate with them from a place of kindness and not talk to people in a manner that we would not like to be spoken to.
9. Be kind and just listen.
Listening is a great skill and believe it or not, a lot of people are not very good at listening. Sometimes, all a person needs is someone to talk to, to be listened to and really heard. You need not agree with what that person is saying if you are of a different opinion. However, just acknowledging that you heard that person and understand their train of thought, will help them feel better and get into a positive mindset. For a problem shared is a problem half solved.
10. Make a kind donation.
Make a kind donation to a charity of your choice or give directly to someone you know is in need. Depending on your profession, you could also show some kindness by doing some pro bono work for people.
